There he meets one of his roommates and future comrades, Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), an ultra-superstitious, nervous boy who is constantly seen praying for better luck. Farhan loves wildlife photography, but has had to shove this passion down to satisfy his father’s vision of his future. Then a flashback…įarhan Qureshi (Madhavan), having been labeled an engineer by his father upon birth, arrives for his first day at the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering (ICE). But the rival is a no-show, and the trio sets off to find him. He had made a pact to an old college rival to meet him on the roof ten years in the future, to see who was the more successful of the pair. “September 5,” the third man crows proudly, showing them pictures of a big house and many possessions. He aborts the flight by faking dire illness and rushes out to get a friend of his. The beginning…a man on a plane gets an important call. Unlike Rang De Basanti, which spotlighted a strong ensemble cast, Aamir Khan stole the show with his portrayal of Ranchoddas “Rancho” Shyamaldas Chanchad (quite a mouthful, eh?) a brilliant yet unconventional engineering student.

Feel free to enjoy this adorable number from the movie, regardless of your viewing history:Īs far as my own viewing history goes, this was a nice follow-up to the heartbreaking Rang De Basanti, as it features three cast members from that film. If you haven’t seen this movie, and don’t want me to ruin it, please don’t read on. It explores how stress can affect a young mind, and how important it is to follow your dreams and to not pressure yourself into doing something you hate.
#Omi vaidya 3 idiots movie
I got through the first half last night, got a good night’s sleep, got done with university stuff today, and went back to watch the second half.ĭespite the less-than-appealing moniker, 3 Idiots is a fun, warm-hearted movie with a lot of valuable lessons to impart, especially if you’re a stressed young adult with people and places pulling you in different directions. Instead, I stumbled upon a free subtitled version of 3 Idiots on YouTube. I specifically mentioned Chak De! India as next on my watch list. In my last post, I had said that I wanted something lighter, like Chak De! India.
